Slingshot Aerospace, the leader in AI-powered space data, analytics, and simulation solutions, today announced the appointment of Scott Humphrys as Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Humphrys brings more than 30 years of leadership experience supporting U.S. government and Department of Defense missions across complex, high-consequence operating environments. His background spans government contracting, international operations, and large-scale workforce management, with a consistent focus on execution, compliance, and mission delivery.

Previously, Humphrys served as Owner, COO, and Executive Vice President of Mission Essential, where he helped scale the company from a startup into a global defense services organization with more than 5,000 employees operating across 12 countries.

Humphrys began his career with 25 years of distinguished service in the United States Army, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. An AH-64 Apache helicopter pilot, he held senior command and staff roles supporting U.S. and joint operations.

As Chief Operating Officer, Humphrys will oversee Slingshot’s operational execution, scaling the company’s processes and infrastructure to support accelerated growth.

Humphrys holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA from The Ohio State University.
