Slingshot Aerospace, the leader in AI-powered space data, analytics, and simulation solutions, today announced Nik Smith has accepted the role as Executive Vice President & General Manager of its International Business Unit. He will officially join the company at the end of February.
Smith brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across defense, aerospace, space strategy, cyber, and information systems. He has built and led high-performing teams in both government and industry, most recently driving strategy and new business growth for Lockheed Martin Space in the United Kingdom and Europe. Earlier in his career, he served in multiple senior roles across the UK Ministry of Defence and Royal Air Force, where he led complex programs, shaped information policy and operational systems, and worked extensively with multinational partners.
Throughout his career, Smith has been recognized for his ability to operate in highly complex environments, align strategy with mission outcomes, and cultivate deep relationships across government, industry, and international stakeholders. He has worked closely with senior policymakers, represented the UK in multinational forums, and helped shape space and technology policy at national and international levels.
As Executive Vice President & General Manager of Slingshot’s international business, Smith will lead the company’s global expansion strategy, deepen partnerships with allied governments and commercial operators, and accelerate the adoption of Slingshot’s AI-driven space domain awareness, traffic coordination, and operational decision-support solutions across international markets.
“Nik brings a powerful combination of strategic insight, operational credibility, and trusted relationships across the global defense and space ecosystem,” said Tim Solms, CEO of Slingshot Aerospace. “As demand for space security, safety, and resilience continues to grow worldwide, his leadership will be instrumental in advancing our international strategy and supporting our allies with the relevant capabilities needed to operate confidently in an increasingly contested domain.”
Smith holds a Master’s degree in defence studies from King’s College London and a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from Sheffield Hallam University.
